I’ve been browsing and testing some of the games that are included in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. Some are pretty decent. This game, in particular, did not catch my attention just by the title and thumbnail image, but after I saw the trailer I thought: “This is my kind of game!”
Here is the trailer video for Graveyard Keeper:
It is like a farming game (Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley) but twisted to the bone. After a deadly accident, you wake up in a strange place where for a weird reason skulls and donkeys can talk. You find out that you have just become the latest “Graveyard Keeper” and your job is to perform autopsies, dig graves, trade with the villagers and you can also plant and grow fruits and vegetables.
The game is a little difficult at the beginning, especially if you haven’t check any guide or walkthrough. I found myself several times without knowing what to do, but it was very satisfying to complete a milestone or somehow advance in the game.
After you are able to pimp up your graveyard a little bit, you can become the priest or pastor of the local church. Then you can begin to give sermons and persuade people to give you donations. The game is full of clever jokes and geek references. The first sermon you give has these words: “May the Force be with you…”
Right now I’m a little stuck, there are so many things to do that I don’t know where to start. I hope that I can find my way soon in the game because I tend to be a little desperate and abandon games that become frustrating.
So far I’m enjoying this game a lot, if you liked StardewValley or Harvest Moon, check out this game.
